I’ve always wanted to lose weight. I’ve tried every diet under the sun, every “miracle” slimming product, and each time, it would work for a while—until it didn’t. It felt like my body built an immunity to every weight-loss hack out there.
But my journey wasn’t just about weight. I also live with fibromyalgia, a condition that causes chronic pain, fatigue, and brain fog. Some days, even the smallest tasks felt like climbing a mountain. I was exhausted, in pain, and stuck in a cycle that felt impossible to break.
I work nights ๐, sleep during the day ๐, and live a pretty sedentary lifestyle ๐️, so honestly, I didn’t know what else to do.
๐ The Night Shift Struggle
If you’ve ever worked night shifts, you know how tough it can be. While the world sleeps, we’re up and running, fueled by caffeine and sheer willpower. ☕ But working against the body's natural clock comes with its challenges.
Here’s how working nights affected me:
❗ Disrupted Sleep – Sleeping during the day isn’t the same as sleeping at night. Even with blackout curtains and white noise machines, my rest wasn’t as refreshing. And poor sleep is notorious for causing weight gain and fibromyalgia flare-ups.
❗ Hormonal Imbalance – Our bodies naturally release hormones like cortisol (the stress hormone) and insulin differently at night. Irregular hormone levels can lead to increased cravings, stubborn belly fat, and low energy.
❗ Fibromyalgia Flare-Ups – The lack of quality sleep and constant fatigue made my pain worse. I would wake up feeling stiff, sore, and mentally drained. Some days, it was hard to even get out of bed.
❗ Slower Metabolism & Weight Gain – Midnight snacks ๐ and 3 AM cravings? Been there. Unfortunately, my metabolism didn’t cooperate, making it even harder to lose weight.
❗ Emotional Eating & Pain Management – Stress, exhaustion, and chronic pain often led me to seek comfort in food—especially carbs and sugar. It was a vicious cycle: pain, poor sleep, junk food, repeat.
But even with all these obstacles, I still wanted to take back control of my health. That’s when I stumbled upon a solution I never thought would work for me—supplements.
๐ The Supplements That Changed the Game
I started with a simple routine:
๐น Multivitamins – The ultimate nutritional safety net. These little heroes filled in the gaps my diet couldn’t cover.
๐น Vitamin C – Not just for immunity! ๐ก️ It’s also a skin-loving antioxidant that helps with collagen production and inflammation control.
Then, I added some extras to level up:
๐น Collagen – Not only for glowing skin! ๐ It also helped reduce joint stiffness, making movement easier.
๐น Glutathione – Known as the “master antioxidant,” it’s a detox powerhouse that helps fight oxidative stress. Less inflammation meant fewer fibromyalgia flare-ups!
๐น B-Complex Vitamins – Energy boost? Yes, please! ⚡ These vitamins help combat fatigue and improve focus, which was a game-changer for my brain fog.
๐น Omega-3 – A heart-healthy MVP ๐ซ that fights inflammation and supports brain function. I noticed my muscle pain wasn’t as intense!
๐น CoQ10 – Think of this as your body’s energy engine. ๐ It helps improve endurance, and for me, it reduced my daily fatigue.
๐น Magnesium – The ultimate relaxation mineral. ๐ง♀️ It helped ease muscle pain, improve sleep quality, and lower stress levels—all crucial for managing fibromyalgia.
๐น Vitamin D3 – Working nights meant little sun exposure, so this “sunshine vitamin” was a must for bone strength and mood support.
๐ The Results So Far
Here’s the wild part: I hadn’t even started dieting or exercising yet, but within a month of taking these supplements, I went from 150 kilos to 139 kilos. ๐
That’s 11 kilos gone without calorie counting, gym memberships, or exhausting workouts. But more importantly, my fibromyalgia attacks became less frequent and less intense.
-
More energy. I no longer felt like I was running on empty.
-
Fewer pain flare-ups. The inflammation-fighting supplements helped me move more freely.
-
Better sleep. Magnesium and Vitamin D3 helped me get deeper, more restorative rest.
-
Less brain fog. I wasn’t constantly in a haze, struggling to focus.
For the first time in a long time, I felt like I had control over my body again. ๐
๐ง๐ฌ Why Supplements Worked for Me
You might be wondering: How did supplements make such a difference without exercise or strict dieting?
The truth is, supplements didn’t “burn fat” on their own—but they gave my body the support it needed to function at its best.
✅ Restored Nutritional Balance – My irregular sleep, stress, and processed foods left me nutrient-deficient. Supplements helped bring my body back into balance.
✅ Boosted My Metabolism – B-Complex vitamins and CoQ10 helped convert food into energy more efficiently.
✅ Reduced Inflammation & Pain – Omega-3 and Glutathione calmed my system down, helping my body release stored fat and reduce my fibromyalgia symptoms.
✅ Supported Hormone Health – Magnesium and Vitamin D3 helped manage cortisol and insulin, reducing stress and cravings.
✅ Improved Sleep & Energy – Better sleep meant less pain, better mood, and more motivation to make healthier choices.
๐ What’s Next?
Seeing progress from just adding supplements gave me the confidence to take my next steps. Now I’m ready to:
๐ Create a simple meal plan focused on whole foods.
๐ถ♀️ Incorporate light exercises, like walking or stretching.
๐ Track my progress without obsessing over the scale.
This isn’t about quick fixes or impossible goals. It’s about building a lifestyle that works for me.
๐ฌ Your Turn!
If you’re feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or like nothing ever works—start small.
Maybe it’s adding a supplement, drinking more water ๐ง, or going for a 10-minute walk every day.
Progress is progress—no matter how small. And who knows? That one step could lead to something life-changing.
